What a Wonderful World
Life is a gift to cherish.
2 Volumes – Completed
This is a compilation of stories in typical modern life. Facts of life if I might add. But it shows us more than what we usually see in everyday life. Love, hope, dreams, reality, passion, effort, struggle; all of that are pictured together in typical life of kids, teenagers, and adults –manga authors and mafia included– as stories about how people strive to survive in their life.
Reading this manga right after Nijigahara Holograph really had a great impact. “What a Wonderful World” is somewhat less intense and less abstract than “Nijigahara Holograph”. Hence it is less confusing. 😀
Nevertheless the manga is definitely not a dissapointing one. Inio Asano really knows how to put the pieces of life into a single great manga. This work is a great compilation of what we all used to see in typical modern life. It is a great combination of values that should be cherished in life.
I’m talking about dreams and passions of youth. Efforts towards a better life. Struggling through the sufferings. Moving forward pursuing dreams. The power of love. The warmth of romance. Subtle reasons to stay alive and to cherish every day we live through. That’s just a small fragment of what I could capture from this manga. I haven’t even read the second volume.
Another point of interest is how the author shows the interconnection between the stories. It’s like telling the stories of every person in a single neighborhood. We might encounter similar stories in any person we know in our real life. Families, friends, teachers, or maybe just anybody we met during our walk to school or office. :p
