Review: Kodomo no Omocha

Kodomo no Omocha
Kids have their own problems

Author
Obana Miho

Status
10 Volumes – Completed

Plot Summary
It’s a world of problematic kids.

Kurata Sana, a lively and energetic sixth grader girl. She is also an artist. At her class, the boys are constantly making trouble. But the teacher can’t do anything about it. The leader of the boys are Hayama Akito, a heartless boy. To make them stop, Sana tries to give Hayama some lessons.

Later Sana find out the reason why Hayama is behaving like that. His mother died after giving birth to him. His older sister always blame him for that. His father is always busy with his work. He never had enough attention from his father. Sana shows her sympathy towards Hayama. She tries to help him and cheer him up. That’s how they become close.

This manga is of course not just about their realtionship. There is a reason why Sana become an artist at such a young age. She and her eccentric-writer mother has an agreement. It’s related to Sana’s ‘dark’ past. They knew when the time comes, it will be hard for both of them. But it’s something that they have to do.

Personal Opinion
Problems with parent, friends, and teachers are pictured together in this manga. Not to mention Sana’s life as an artist. Love is without a doubt exist in this manga. All of these are problems that kids or teenegars usually faced in their life. Although sometimes I think that it’s a bit exaggerating for sixth or seventh grader kids to have that kind of problems. Not all of course. But hey, they’re still kids. To become so desperate about love is a bit out of line. Oh well. Kids today grows faster. :p

What makes this manga interesting is Sana’s lively character. How she deals with her problems. I think this manga can be a good dorama series. 🙂

Personal Rating
8.5/10
